resortAtlantis

Atlantis Paradise Island Bahamas aims to bathe its "citizens" in a sense of heightened harmony and abundance. Everything conspires to take the good life one step further. Its centerpiece, a sprawling 34-acre waterscape, incorporates the largest marine habitat in the world, second only to Mother Nature's. More than 50,000 marine animals, representing 200 species, live a resort life of their own in 11 sparkling exhibit lagoons. Outside the Beach and Coral Towers, the waterscape encompasses 40 people-friendly waterfalls, five freshwater swimming areas, two underground viewing grottos, the quarter-mile Lazy River Ride, and the Predator Lagoon, where guests walk through a clear 100-foot underwater tunnel and come tooth to tooth with sawfish, barracuda, and sharks. The Royal Towers, an equally fascinating community of sea creatures inhabits the 2.3-Million gallon Ruins Lagoon, an underwater tableau depicting an ancient subsea city. Nearby, guests splash in five water slides that stream off the six-story Mayan Temple.

The Royal Towers section of the waterscape contains five more swimming areas, four tropical fish and predator lagoons, and The Dig, an interpretation of how life may have been in the legendary paradise of Atlantis 11,000 years ago. A guest could spend all day, every day viewing the amazing marine life. But few can resist the chance to take a plunge down the Leap of Faith slide, a cruise from the resort's world-class marina, or a swim with hundreds of fish in the seven-acre snorkeling lagoon. For dry-land activity, the Atlantis Sports Center offers courts for tennis, basketball, and beach volleyball; an 18-hole putting course; a state-of-the-art fitness center; and, for good measure, an 82-foot lap pool. The 50,000-square-foot casino entertains around the clock with nearly 1,000 slot machines and gaming tables for everything from black jack and baccarat to Caribbean stud poker. The Mandara Spa offers equally compelling temptations. Its decor, a fusion of European and Asian touches, harmonizes with a long list of nature-based treatments taking place in 24 treatment rooms, two tropical rain showers, a thalassotherapy pool, and beauty center.
